Funny Photo Monday-Awkward Family Photos

"Andy still doesn’t know that Angela’s having an affair with Dwight. And it’s been seventeen days. I mean, eventually he’ll figure it out, when their kids have giant heads and beet-stained teeth. But right now it’s just…awkward." -Jim, The Office
It’s Monday! So it’s time for the Funny Photos to start our Week off with a smile. These had me laughing so hard. I am such a fan of the Awkward Family Photos website. I love the captions they put up too, they’re brilliant. Go check them out for more laughs. Here are just a few that I thought needed to be shared with you all.
I just love this one. How bad would you feel about your height when Dad says, here kid, go stand on this book so we can see you in the picture.
Can we say inferiority complex? What kind of man would agree to this?
This is just horribly awkward. Gran and Gramps in their skivvies with the whole crew. Was this strip poker gone wrong?
This is LOL cat hell!!

25 things I want to accomplish by the end of 2011

So I realize that I blogged that I don't want to have resolutions this year but this is different. These are just some things that I would like to do with my life this year. They may be lame and make me sound like a total nerd but I don't care :) I have just been thinking about my life lately and how I just need to be happy with it. There are so many wonderful things and I need to make the most out of it!

1. Kiss someone I care about
2. Go on a spontaneous adventure
3. Meet/discover a new best friend
4. Take a ton of photos
5. Buy an expensive book of poetry that becomes well used
6. Start school and excel in it
7. Read tons of books and buy tons more
8. Have at least 3 days of the year where I feel like I look amazing
9. Go out of state at least twice
10. Save someone from a bad situation
11. Go on a leisurely walk alone
12. Get at least 25 volunteer hours (it's about time!)
13. Go to the temple at least once a month
14. Regularly go to the mountains
15. Test myself in a way I didn't think possible
16. Write one (or more!) great poem(s)
17. TAKE MORE RISKS!
18. Say yes to waaaaaay more opportunities
19. Be fully satisfied with life, at least for a few weeks
20. Care more.
21. Love more.
22. Grow more.
23. Dream more.

Well there you have it! If you have any advice on how to accomplish any of these things it would be very appreciated! Here is to a great rest of the year!

Why is it still cold?!

Today I decided to try something new and exciting...take trax. I am still without a car (which is awful!) and decided to give it a go to see if it is something that I can do more often. My work is conveniently close to the station so its perfect. Matt was even a super duper nice brother and gave me a ride to the station. It all seemed perfect. Well that is until it started to rain a little bit "Lisa, its raining...I don't know about this?!" to which I replied "Meh! Its just a little rain, I'll be fine!" Boy was I wrong! The actual ride was actually quite enjoyable...I got to read some of my book, look at the strange people that get on trax during the day and look out the window. But as was enjoying my ride and looking at the window the weather started to get worst and worst. By the time I got to my destination it was raining pretty hard and the wind was pretty strong. It literally felt like tiny little knives flying through the sky hitting me! Then I decided to see if Tosh would come and get me since he was at work bu he didn't respond so I decided to brave the storm. It was a LONG walk to work. But I made it! And now the sky is blue so hopefully my walk back wont be as awful.

This is what my heart look like...

Yes...this is what my heart looks like this week. A BED! But not just any bed. No! A bed that is by the ocean and can even go into the ocean where I can peacefully float around and sleep or even read my book. This time change is killing me this year! You would think after 50 of these things I would be used to it but meh! No such luck. I know that the time change has something to do with farmers but that was soooo 80 years ago! I wont deny that I don't mind the sun being out longer (the 6pm darkness was torture) I just wish that we could have it be the same all year long, instead I am stuck feeling like I have mono!

Happy Valentines Day!

Well its Valentines Day! I guess this deserves a Yay! Although there really shouldn't be a day designated for love...it should really be everyday! But its still a fun holiday in my book. I of course have my years where I hate it. Mainly when I worked in a big office and would have to go to the front desk to pick up flowers for other people that were delivered to them.Remember how cool Valentines day was when you were in elementary school! You could make boxes write secret messages to people that you like and giggle! And pass out Hello Kitty valentines. It was soo grand! So this year I am going to be doing this. It will be super! But I have a few things that I would like to share to help us all out...they are both videos of course because they are the best and get my point across nicely. The first is an instructional video on how we can make it through this day of love if we don't have anyone to share it with...

This next video is for all the romantics out there like myself. This is my favorite ending to a movie! I think I speak for every woman when I say...this is the dream! So take notes boys!

So Happy Valentines Day everyone! I hope its a great one!

Whatever happened to predictability?

So this morning I was feeling a little under the weather :( I woke up and felt sick and didn't know what to do to make it go away pronto!!! So I layed in bed for a little bit trying to talk myself into getting up. I went upstairs and made a bowl of "healthy" cereal and went back downstairs. I decided to watch a TV show...I was going to watch That 70s Show in hopes that a little Eric Foreman would cure me but then I saw it! FULL HOUSE! It was as if it was glowing...calling to me...begging me to let it cure me! So I grabbed season 2 and put it in, layed in my bed, ate my cereal and let the magic happen. Full House made me feel better! YAY! Well and Joanna's magical mixture of pills. But I am just going to imagine in my head that it was all because of the Tanner girls..specifically Stephanie! She was just so darn cute! I am still holding out for the Full House reunion. Hopefully I wont have to wait too long for this treasure! So here is a dedication I found to my favorite show of all time. I don't know if anything will ever top it! Enjoy!

The Wonderful World of Advertising!

So as we all know yesterday was the Superbowl! So I have never been a huge football fan, mainly because I don't understand the rules (why do they throw that flag around?). Maybe one day I will understand the game and enjoy it. But for now I will stick to my baseball, GO YANKEES! Well I am one of the may people that watch the Superbowl for the commercials. Although I felt like this year was not as good as the past but there were a few that struck my funny bone pretty hard! So I will now share them with you...
Apparently this one was from students from BYU so that's cool and it was soooo funny!
This one has the best ending! I laughed for a good 5 minutes after and we  had to rewind it a few times.
Not that I am a drinker but this is sooo funny!
I didnt see this one until today! Hilarious and adorable!
This is another one I didnt see until today. Thanks Tosh! So funny! "What's a Bieber?"

This is what my heart looks like...

It's cold! I am so done with winter and really just want it to be Spring or Summer or just warm! Or I just want it to be June so I can be in this picture in Cabo drinking a fancy drink with an umbrella in it and a piece of cake! Is it really to much to wish that someone could invent a time machine already so I can be magically whisked away to June! I don't think so!

Yay a recipe of deliciousness!

So me and Joanna have been trying to make new things for dinner and have been trying a lot of new recipes. This week we discovered something magical! Tex Mex Chicken. Its sooo good! So because it is so good I felt the need to share it with everyone. Plus as an added bonus its super cheap to make and is made in a slow cooker. Enjoy!
1lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast
2 jars thick and chunky salsa
1 envelope taco seasoning mix
2 C. cheddar cheese, shredded
1 bag frozen whole-kernal corn (canned works too)
1/2 C. Sour Cream
1 can of pinto beans

Cut chicken into small strips; dust with taco seasoning mix. Combine corn, beans and salsa in crock-pot. Add the chicken and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-6 hours. Just before serving, top with sour cream and sprinkle with shredded cheese. (also good with crumbled tortilla chips) Serve over rice. Serves 6-8.

So I LOVE the band Pomplamoose (Thanks Danielle!) and they redid the song “These are a few of my favorite things” and I love it! Well I was listening to it the other day and decided that I would share with all of you my favorite things…I wish I was as cool as Oprah and could give everything away to everyone for free but alas I be PO! So here you all go…These are a few of my favorite things…
Hello Kitty! I LOVE HELLO KITTY! Ever since I was little me and Joanna were obsessed! One day I will have a kitchen completely decked out in Hello Kitty much like my bathroom currently…
Lisa Loeb is definitely one of my favorite things! I have loved her since I was in the fourth grade and will love her forever! She has the best name EVER, she loves Hello Kitty and I want her glasses! So what is not to love! Seriously!
Oh Waynes World how I love thee! You bring me so much joy! This is my favorite movie of all time and will be FOREVER! “I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored” Need I say more?!
Harry Potter…if you don’t like Harry Potter there is something wrong with you and need to reevaluate your life and then watch them and read them because it is  pretty much the coolest thing since the invention of mix tapes! Also we have the wonderful opportunity to be introduced to RON! I heart my won won! So much! Thank you for letting us see your broad shoulders in the latest film!

Croutons and Bacon…no explanation is needed…they are just good. The Tasty End.
So Italy…I realize that I have never actually been to Italy and that its technically a place and not a thing but its still a super FAVORITE! And one day I will go and ride in a gondola and be happy and maybe even meet a nice Italian man with a wonderful accent…*sigh!

The mountains…I love going to the mountains so much! This has not always been the case but now it is a definite fav! I love camping and hiking and having fires and just everything about nature. Absolutely cant get enough!
Shark Tunnels have recently become a favorite. I went to Oregon/Seattle last Summer with some friends and was finally able to go into a shark tunnel and it was the best! I am so excited for the new being built in Salt Lake!
Alright well I have so many other things that are my favorite! But here are a few for now…so THE END!

New Years Resolutions? I think not!

Ok so its that time of year again to evaluate our lives, list all the things that we don’t like about ourselves and want to change, and make a big list that will be 10% accomplished. Yep…New Years resolutions. I was thinking about this and I of course thought of all the things that I wanted to do and was excited at the prospect of losing weight, traveling more, being more active…etc, etc. But when I sat down to write them all down on a fancy piece of paper to put up on my mirror I thought…nah! Whats the point?! I came across this video and it was my thoughts exactly! So I am making a resolution to not make resolutions. I am just going to live out this year and do everything that I can to just be happy with myself and not beat myself up for not losing that 20 pounds, not going around the world and so on. I am just going to go with the flow and do what makes me happy at the moment and what will best help me in the future. I don’t know what this new year is going to bring to me, but I am excited to find out! As one of my favorite quotes says…”Why does it always have to be about the destination?? Why can’t it be about the journey!?”

My Movie Bubble

So I have been thinking a lot lately about movies and how they truly do in a way completely mess us up. Don’t get me wrong I love them so much and will never stop watching. They just totally throw us into a fantasy land and give us complete false hope and expectations that will probably never be met. Take this video for instance. Its from the movie Step Up 3, which I adore! This has to be my favorite scene from the movie. But its totally false and will never happen. I wish I could have a total crush on a guy and when we get in fight he does something like this to completely sweep me off my feet! But no in reality he doesn’t even realize that you are mad at him or even that you are remotely interested in him and moves onto another girl and you just have to be the nice super supportive friend! Whoa that was a lot of complaining. Gee…you would never guess I have personal experience in this area :) I love living in the movie bubbles though! Is it so awful to want these things and to expect them?! Is it so awful to want to actually kiss someone in the rain…have a man climb up a fire escape with roses pretending to save you from a tower! Is it really too much to ask for a guy to interrupt a big New Years party so he can give you a huge speech about all the things that he loves about you?! I think not! So I am going to go on dreaming and living in my bubble and hoping that one day I will get a random scene in the streets!

“Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80’s movies? I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window. I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey. I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80’s movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life.”
Ever since I was in the 4th grade my favorite singer has always been Lisa Loeb. I absolutely love her…and it helps that she has the greatest first name EVER! This music video just reminds me why I love her so much! Not only does she sing the soundtrack of my life but she has a great love of Hello Kitty! This video pretty much has my dream kitchen, glasses and guitar. One day I hope to be as cool as this awesome little lady! This is one of my favorite songs and is one I listen to on my “woe is me” days. Oh Lisa how I love thee!
